Images are a mixture of buildings, people, Salt family and mill and 2 images of Compound Engines at Salts Mill together with images of the railway station. Loose items include: poster from The Yorkshire Post and Leeds Mercury October 19th 1956 titled 'Salts Saltaire Ltd, Saltaire a guide by D Larvin'; a photograph of Titus Salt House Sailors Children's Society 1966; and an envelope containing a black and white image of Saltaire and farmland.

2024.64: Sir Titus Salt and George Moore Sir Titus Salt and George Moore by James Burnley. Green hardback book with image of oil lamp. Part of The World's Workers series. Contains two biographies, one of Sir Titus Salt and the other of his contemporary George Moore who was a lace merchant and philanthropist. This particular book has a handwritten enscription on the first page. It states that the book was presented to 'Wm. Hollingsworth' as a prize for attendance at the Wesleyan Synday School in 1886. Signed by 'Thos. Townsend, Secretary' -
2024.65: Memorandum and suggestions 1883 Original paper, handwritten document relating to the Salt family business. The memorandum suggests an arrangement for the setting up of a fund out of the income and profits of Sir Titus Salt, Bart. and Sons Co. Ltd. The fund is designed to to pay for various liabilities on the compnay and its directors and also to provide a regular income for the share and debenture holders (largely the Salt family). 2024.66: Statement and scheme for reconstruction Original paper handwritten document relating to the Salt family business. The document sets out the details of the proposed takeover of Salts Mill and Saltaire village by a consortium of four Bradford businessmen: Isaac Smith, John Rhodes, John Maddocks and James Roberts. The document outlines the will of the the late Sir Titus Salt, describes the capital structure of Sir Titus Salt Bart. Sons and Co. Ltd. It also the describes the incorporation of the firm as a limited company and its recent decision to apply for voluntary liquidation. It finally outlines the proposed takeover by the consortium. Mainly concentrates on the former West Riding of Yorkshire, the centre of the woollen textile industry in the county. Includes photographs, drawings and plans. -
2024.72: The Garnett Story 1831-1962 by E Philip Dobson A hard backed book, illustrated and subtitled The History of a Yorkshire Worsted and Woollen Business Through Four Generations. Published to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the Garnett-owned textile business, from its earliest foundations in the late eighteenth century up to the mid twentieth century. Contains a history of the textile business. Appendix A describes the processes of woollen and worsted manufacture in the early Victorian age. A detailed family history of the Garnett family can be found at the back of the book. -
2024.73: The Derwent Valley Mills and their Communities An illustrated paperback about the bid for the Derwent Valley MIlls to be awarded UNESCO World Heritage Status. The book contains the hisorical sections and the bibliography and glossary of the nomnation document submitted to UNESCO. The Derwent Valley Mills were successful in their bid and became a World Heritage SIte in 2001, at the same time as New Lanark Mills in Scotland and Saltaire. -
